Looking at our website there is a vast lack of history about the club we don't even know which year we were formed and we are making it difficult to leave history for future members. Imagine if Grace left, all the clubs history between 1997 and 2001 would leave with her, so to start lets see if we can recall who has run the club I can go back as far as 00-01
00-01 John Hodgeson 01-02 Mel (I can't remeber her surname) 02-03 Me 03-04 John Paul Kennedy 04-05 Amy Simpson 05-06 Me again 06-07 Ian Colman
Anyone able to go back any further (Grace) or does anyone know any useless historical facts about the club like we won butts in 96-97 the novice bit in 97-98 Busa indoor in 96

yeah great, so let everyone know just how much of an old codger I really am.
I can tell you more chairs.... and if you ask Alan stiles he'll tell you even more
1996/7 Sarah Huntingdon (I think) 1997/8 Jenny Paget 1998/9 Alan Stiles 1999/0 Perhaps Mark Gascoyne (this was my year out so I can only hazard a guess) 2000/01 Jonny Hodgson 2001/02 Michelle Morris
Think the club as been around since at least 1980 as according to BUSA records we came 2nd that year. It did used to say on the club history page (before it got changed after different Recs & Pubs got hold of it) that it was around since a particular decade.
Now there used to be something in the constitution or something where there was someone in SDC or whatever it's previous incarnation was and they were given a life membership of the club (unfortunately this was well before my time and all I remember his name reminded me of hedgehogs). He would be able to tell you even more about the club. What about that guy who sold you the new club compound, he must have some tales to tell. Also Matt Grey who contacted the committee by email last year was the era just before mine.
When I was secretary in 2000/1 I handed over a massive bag full of club documents (inc minutes and records) to the next secretary who was Claire something. Where it is now is beyond me (I suppose it's been thrown away by someone).
Oh yeah and the club used to be LSUAC (the added "union") because it was confused with the athletics club or something. It changed in 1999 i think.

I must get on to Alan he is bound to know all sorts of usefull stuff
you can't be that old as I have meet all but sarah on the list and even then the name rings a bell
there are records dating back to the late 70's so was pressumably formed before then
most of what Claire Benson (I just came across her name) had dissappeared with her but a folder conataining your minutes was found in the portacabin a couple of years ago including a disk with allsorts of useful things on like a picture of pikachu and if you want a laugh I still have a copy of all the minutes you wrote
this is a good start I shall write a page for the website

When I became club secretary, I binned all the useless crap that had amassed into a pile that was at least a foot thick. If you look in the bins in towers bar, you may find some of it there

Hmm,
Well there are certainly stories to tell from the early nineties.
Mark & Mike, or was it Mike and Mark? Andy Rylatt, Hazel Sherrard, Phil Murphy, Helen Palmer and of course no lineup is complete without the legend that is Alan Stiles.
Those are just a few names I can remember a the moment....

I was a member 1983 - 1985 and on the committee for my sins, but old age being what it is, I don't remember what job I had. I do think I was records officer some of the time.
Some names I remember: Phil Hindle, Jules Carr, Wayne Boden, Tim Bagley, Louise Cox, Dave Harrison.

you know, I was born in 1984,
I'm glad that people still remember the club from before i existed. it gives the club some serious history, I wonder who the mover's and shakers were pre 1983. I bet they were just like me
